Laurel House is a comprehensive domestic violence agency serving individuals, families, and communities throughout Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The Mission of Laurel House is to:
- Advocate for and empower those impacted by domestic violence by providing crisis intervention, safe haven, supportive programs, and resources
- Advance social change through preventative education, community training, and collaboration to foster a coordinated response to domestic abuse
On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 9:00 am, the Laurel House’s 10th Annual Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes event will take place at Ursinus College, Collegeville. This event is an International March Against Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence, with Emcee Preston Elliott from WMMR’s Preston & Steve returning for another year!
For the 10th anniversary, Laurel House is offering a 20% discount to First Responders and Veterans who register to participate.
In years past, several of our fire companies, several Police Departments, and a team from the District Attorney’s Office have worn the bright red high heels and made the walk. Royersford, Upper Providence, Barren Hill, Worcester, Montgomery, Tylersport, Gilbertsville, and others have supported this worthy cause, raising money for victims of domestic abuse in Montgomery County. There has even been some friendly fundraising competition amongst the fire service teams. It is a good morning, with guaranteed laughs, for our fire service community to support victims in our communities. (And yes, ALL of our communities are affected by Domestic Violence)
